“拿下GRE有多难?我竟然搞定这个难点就上330了……”

    近期有很多学生反映在GRE考试过程中总是卡在逻辑题上,这严重影响了他们的考试速度和心态。其实很多学生在复习GRE考试的过程中对逻辑考查点过于疏忽了。虽然逻辑题在整个考试中的占比并不大,但也是考试的一部分,且计入总分。今天小编请到新航道GRE张老师来为大家分析下GRE 逻辑中weaken题的解题方法,以两道真题为例~

    案例一

    Experts removed a layer of eighteenth-century red paint from a figure in a painting by a sixteenth-century Italian artist, revealing a layer of green paint underneath. Since the green paint dates from the sixteenth century, the figure must have been green, not red, when the painting was completed in 1563.

    Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument?

    (A) The experts had been commissioned to restore the painting to the colors it had when it was completed.

    (B) X-rays reveal an additional layer of paint beneath the green paint on the figure.

    (C) Chemical analyses were used to determine the ages of the red paint and the green paint.

    (D) The red paint was added in the eighteenth century in an attempt to repair damage done in the late seventeenth century.

    (E) Red paint on the robe of another figure in the painting dates from the sixteenth century.

    这是一个典型的削弱类逻辑

    文中事实信息:专家把一层18世纪的red paint从一位16世纪意大利画家的画上去掉后,发现了一层green paint(来自于16世纪)

    推理:在画完成之时,the figure must have been green。

    问题:weaken上文

    那么上过课的同学知道都到这里我们要开始pre-judge了,整理上述信息,我们知道正确答案一定是强调这幅画中的人物并不是green paint。

    选项A:并未提及到画中人物的颜色,排除。

    选项B: X-ray发现green paint下面还有一层,那么这一层才更有可能是画完成时,其人物的颜色,这也说明可能并不是green paint,故选B。

    选项C:强调的是red paint和green paint的时间,排除。

    选项D:阐述的是red paint的目的,排除

    选项E:并不涉及这幅画,排除

    案例二

    The popular notion that teachers are generally apathetic about microcomputer technology is false, or at least dated: a recently published survey indicates that 86 percent of the 5000 teachers who responded to survey questionnaires expressed a high level of interest in microcomputers.

    Which of the following, if true, would be most damaging to the argument above?

    (A)No matter was made in the survey to determine whether the teachers who received questionnaires with microcomputers.

    (B)Teachers who are interested in microcomputer technology were more likely than others to complete and return their questionnaires.

    (C)Questionnaires were sent to teachers without regard to their areas of subject-matter expertise or teaching experience.

    这道逻辑题要比上面的一题稍微复杂一些,它考查了同学们对于数字的敏感度,且推理在前,事实依据在后。

    文中事实信息:当前的一个包含5000名老师的问卷调查表明,有86%的老师对microcomputer有很大的兴趣。

    推理:人们通常的想法(认为老师对microcomputer不感兴趣)是不对的。

    问题:damaging the argument,即削弱上文信息

    那么这一道题我们的答案方向是:popular notion并没有错或者过时,即问卷调查并不能说明大部分老师都很感兴趣microcomputer。这时我相信大家心中已有了答案方向,那就是从样本分析本身的reliability出发。

    选项A:强调的是进行问卷调查的老师是否有电脑,无关项,故排除。

    选项B:说明喜欢microcomputer的老师更愿意做这个问卷调查,这对该调查中representative sample进行了质疑,那么进而说明该问卷不能反应普通老师的情况,故选B。 

    选项C:说明该问卷调查的对象老师在教学经验和授课领域上有很多不同,故排除。

    选项D:是关于该问卷调查带来的结果,无关项,排除。

    选项E:是关于这个问卷调查的发起者,无关项,排除。

    总结:复习GRE逻辑时一定要结合课上笔记内容,规范答题步骤,遇到strengthen/weaken题要做好预判。
